Daily Lenten Meditation

Each day in Lent, I post a meditation from one of our parishioners. Their names are not listed to protect their privacy

Lessons for the Day:  Genesis 49:29 - 50:14;  1 Corinthians 11:17-34;  Mark 8:1-10

As each of us age, there are many things to consider.  Jacob evidently knew he was dying.  He let his family know where he wanted to be buried.  It is important for all of us to communicate to loved ones how we wish to spend our last days on earth and how things need to be handled.  Do this while your health is good and your mind is clear.  Your family needs to know your wishes so they are not pressured with hard decisions should the need arise.  Joseph and his brothers respected and followed their father's wishes.  Jacob was a faithful and brave man.  He knew the Lord and set an example for others.  Eventually, when Joseph's time came, he too knew God and made his wishes known to his family.  To me, this passage is all about preparing.  Just as Lent is a time of preparation, so too each of us must prepare ourselves for the future.  Just have faith and know the Lord is with you. May God send you many blessings today and always.
